Statistics from reliable analysis

The number of children living on the streets in Kenya is estimaated at 300,000, KNBS 2019. Nairobi City alone is estimated at 60,000. Street children have been identified as a weak- link in the control of illicit alcohol and abuse of drugs in our major towns. Street children face many challenges, including, access to basic needs such as shelter, food, clothing, psychological and social problems. They are disdained, hated and avoided. They live in abject poverty and are perpetual beggars. They do not have shelter nor decent clothing and depend on individual well-wishers who occasionally donate meals to them. They suffer from poor hygiene, and are almost always intoxicated from huffing and or inhaling glue and other petroleum solvents, besides bhang and alcohol. Majority are teenagers between age 12 and 18. UNICEF reports that drug misuse among street children is a social and health issue with numerous negative effects on the victim’s ability to develop intellectually, socially, physically and in general.

  To come up with sustainable community based intervention program for harm mitigation, treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration of 100 street children/families all of who are afflicted with substance dependence and poverty.
